Welcome to my blog, welcome to a little glimpse into my life. This is going to be yet another knitting blog 😉 with a little cooking, a little crafting, and a little family life thrown into the mix. Most of the time the format will be whats on my needles, my finished objects and ideas and plans for future projects. Also I am a stay at home mom so there will be tips recipes and my opinions on rasing a family.
A little about me. I am a mother of two wonderful, funny, crazy children. Gryphon is 7 in the first grade and quite the character. He is charismatic, funny, sensitive and sweet. He is also opinionated and strong-willed as can be. I am sure I will be sharing storys about his antics and the battles of will that go on in our house. Claira is 2 and my little sunshine, she is just now finding her voice and learning so much. She has a witty little sense of humor and is going to be the child that keeps us guessing. I am also a wife, my husband Josh is my soul mate in every sense of the word. We raise our children together with love, laugh at our mistakes and are partners in crime ;-). He is in the Army Reserve and also a workaholic at his civilian job. On top of being a wife and mother the most important facit of my personality, my world, is that I am an artist. I paint, draw, make silver jewelry, and stained glass, however all of those things are hard to stay on top of while the kids are so little. I spend most of my free time knitting, which is my major outlet of creativity. I love it, I love being able to take yarn and turn it into something that will be loved and cherished. I feel as if I was born in the wrong time, I love the old-fashioned past times, knitting, gardening, reading, quilting, sewing, etc. But enough about me, let’s get to the main blog content.
Whats on the Needles
Whats on my needles… well it’s getting close to christmas so that means A LOT. I think it’s too much to show in one blog post I think so I am going to space it out over the next few posts. Here is a brief overview, a christmas tree skirt, a blanket for dad, a blanket for Josh, a lace pair of socks, a cowl, a pair of pedicure socks, a bucket hat, a plain pair of socks, and a lace hat. Today we will just feature one… The Cowel . The pattern is baby fern lace hood/hat/cowl and you can find the pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-fern-lace-hood—hat—cowl on ravelry. The yarn is gloss from knitpicks.com. I like this project because of its versatility. Depending on how it is worn it can be a hood, hat or a cowl.
I have had a lot of finished objects recently but I am only going to post the two most recent. If you want to see all of my Fos you can go to my ravelry page. http://www.ravelry.com/people/checat82. The first FO is my Brea Bag. The knitting was easy but look complicated (the best kind) the handle is made from glass beads, and the liner is made of some fabric that I had on hand. I am THRILLED with the way it turned out.
I will post another post soon with more work in progress photos. Stay tuned!
